— About this chord

G7#5 (1-3-#5-b7) raises the 5th of a dominant chord for a restless, whole-tone-tinged tension — bright but unstable, often used to intensify a V-I resolution in jazz and blues turnarounds. Its augmented-triad-plus-b7 structure gives it a slightly exotic, cinematic edge that works well sliding chromatically between diatonic dominants. Also searched as Gaug7, G7+5, G7 sharp 5.
