— About this chord

B7#5 (1–3–♯5–♭7) has a bright, unsettled, whole-tone shimmer that leans hard into dominant tension. A favorite in jazz turnarounds and blues endings, it also appears in fusion and lounge harmony for its raised-fifth sparkle. On guitar it's a compact open-position voicing; pianists enjoy its whole-tone color against a walking bass. Functions as an altered V7 resolving strongly to I, ideal for cadences and chromatic voice leading. Also searched as B7+5, B7aug.
