— About this chord
E7#5 (1–3–♯5–♭7) is a restless, augmented-flavored dominant chord with a bright but unsettled edge from its raised fifth. It's a jazz turnaround favorite, adding chromatic tension on the way to the tonic, and appears in blues and swing as a spicier substitute for a plain dominant 7th. On guitar it's playable as a compact open-position grip or as a movable shape anywhere on the neck. Functionally it resolves strongly to A or Am, often used to intensify a V-I cadence with whole-tone color. Also searched as Edom7#5, E7(#5), E+7.
