— About this chord

E13 (1–3–5–♭7–9–13) stacks the sweetness of a 9th under a rich 13th on top, giving a full, horn-section-like sparkle over a bluesy dominant foundation. It's a jazz and blues-shuffle staple, adding sophistication to turnarounds and closing cadences, and shows up in funk and soul rhythm parts for extra color. On guitar it's playable as an open chord or as a movable jazz-shell shape further up the neck, often with a wide stretch to catch the 13th. Functionally it works as a dominant chord resolving to A, delivering a lush, jazzy pull. Also searched as E13, Edom13, E dominant 13.
