A6/9 (1-3-5-6-9) is a warm, unresolved major color chord — sweeter and jazzier than a plain A6, with the added 9th giving it a floating, bossa-nova sophistication. A favorite ending chord in jazz and bossa nova because it never demands resolution, it lingers comfortably as a I-chord substitute. Common in Brazilian guitar comping and lounge/swing voicings.
